Did this really happen in Leningrad ,Russia during WWII?

I was reading a book called winter Garden and it made me reliaze a lot more of world war 2 and in the book there was a part when the mom of Anya and Leo but her children on the train in Leningrad because she found out there was an evacuation for the children of Leningrad and the mom but her children on the train and she didn't want to leave them on there on even though they were going to go to a safe place and be protected she got on and a few miles on the train they where meet with Naiz's and bombs all over they got out and hide in a small barn the mom anya and leo ran out of the danger zone it took days tho get to Leningrad and almost died and all the children from the train died and the mom blamed Stalin because she thinks he lead all the children right to the Naiz's and that was in the book called Winter Garden and by Kristin Hannah and I just wanted to know if that really happen I know the Characters are probably not real but i want to know if a train from Leningrad was lead to the Naizs ion world war 2
